History About Ambaji Temple
The history of the temple dates back to ancient times and is shrouded in legend. According to one legend, the temple was originally built by the sage Vashistha after he performed a yajna (sacred fire ritual) at the site. Another legend states that the temple was built by the Moon God (Chandra) himself.
The temple has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries, with the current structure believed to have been built in the 11th century. The temple is built in the traditional Gujarati style and features intricate carvings and sculptures.
The Ambaji Temple is considered to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, which are sacred shrines dedicated to the goddess Shakti. It is believed that the heart of the goddess Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, fell at this site after her body was destroyed by Lord Vishnu's Sudarshan Chakra.
The temple attracts thousands of devotees every year, especially during the Navratri festival, which is celebrated with great pomp and splendor. The festival involves nine days of worshiping the goddess in her different forms and culminates in the Dussehra or Vijayadashami celebration.
Overall, the Ambaji Temple is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus and is revered for its rich history and spiritual significance.
